I chewed on a hail stone as I watched the storm violently pass down the road like a band of murderers and thieves. We put the kids in the closet, and huddled in the hallway. The rain and hail was deafening. The sky turned an eerie green color, and everything seemed to stop for a second. At that moment, our ears began to pop, and we heard an unearthly sound. We could physically feel an instant change in pressure. The house started to shake, and we awaited the inevitable removal of our roof. As soon as it approached, it left. The storm exited with a horrific sound, and it seemed like gravity itself followed it down the road; taking swirling metal and debris along for the ride. The next morning, I traveled down the dark road, and found that there were no lights anywhere. After several towns, I finally found a place to get gas. On my way back, the light of day started to show the surreal sight of random destruction. It's funny how tornadoes pick and choose what to annihilate. I saw a church untouched, and then a path of trees broken off like matchsticks, only a few yards away. Houses were completely gone, and cars were tossed around like toys. I saw landmarks demolished, and was taken back at the vast range of total and complete destruction. I am extremely thankful that my family is safe. This could have been so much worse for us personally. To hear people complaining about not having electricity, or Internet access, is almost insulting after seeing the sights of yesterday... We are without some luxuries, but we are alive... That is reason to be thankful, don't you think?

Some of things ppl have been complaining about are insane considering some of the things other families have been thru. I can live without power or internet as long as my family is safe. I can live without my house or things, as long as my family is safe. Some people should just take a step back and put things in perspective. Have the right priorities....Personally I will not die if I don't see someone posting they are going to the grocery store on Facebook. LOL
