He just sat there… Drinking his coffee… His world was crumbling down around him, yet he simply sat there. Waiting for the inevitable. Waiting for his fate. All the events that led to this was mainly of his own making. Self-destruction was his favorite pass-time. So he watched the world fall in on him one piece at a time. The shards of his broken dreams stabbed him like knives falling from the ceiling. The smoke of all his burned bridges filled his lungs. The poison of all his lies, that was taken in small doses, was starting to take it’s toll, and the ghosts of all his regrets, haunted him to the point of madness. In a fit of frustration, he decided to accept the consequences of his actions. He finally welcomed his hell with open arms, for he deserved this. For the first time in his pathetic life, he finally showed a minute trace of courage. A small amount of resolve, and a tiny ounce of dignity. In the end, he opened his eyes. A tear fell as he realized all his sins, and the light that he had always sought, was now before him; shinning as brightly as he had dreamed…

You totally deserve the award! I love your poems! They are dark and sometimes sad but amazing. As I said before they sometimes remind me of Alice in Chains lyrics.
