I briskly walked through the parking lot; trying to avoid the drizzling rain and wet leaves. She smiled at me from behind the counter, offering the life-giving nectar of hot, dark caffeine-filled joy. I sipped it as I walked to my desolate destination; trying desperately not to be late for my tedious day. My blazer smells of cigarettes and has a small coffee stain on the lapel. I notice these small imperfections, even when running late. I'm always playing the role of the white rabbit; constantly starring at my watch. Time is always of the essence it seems. Being late is never an option. Even if the appointment is dreaded, I can't be late to it. I would be disappointed if my execution was delayed. I finally check in, and do my work-prep at my desk. The same as yesterday. The same as tomorrow. My mind drifts to diseases and dwarfs. Songs blare through my tiny headphones, disturbing and entertaining me simultaneously. Here I am. Comfortably punctual and complacent. Once more. Always.
