I rolled the faded oily dice around in my hand. 

I blew for luck before I threw 

A pair is all I needed

A seven and a four? What's new?!

I spent my last two dollars on a scratch off 

One match is all I needed

I scratched furiously with my last quarter 

I scratched with purpose and with speed 

Just 25 or 50 would really make my day

I tossed my worthless ticket on the ground
