She looked over at the old man sitting on the dingy couch, as to say something. He smiled a little smile and looked on to the blinking TV in the corner. It was status quo in the stale household, and things were as they always were. The life of adventure and passion for the couple had long vanished into the depths of time. Things now simply "were". No pitter-patter of little feet... No arguments about money... No feeling much at all was left, and she longed for something more full filling in her lonely life. He too was lonely now that nothing was left between them. They both had outside love interests. He with his bottle, and her with her preoccupation and indifference... They show each other subtle civility, but they are as strangers now.Where was that loving couple that once dwelled here? Does time fade and distort love into gray discontentment over the years? Newlywed bliss fades, which is expected, but does it have to turn into something that is non-existent? So, this scenario begs the question: Does love have an expiration date?
