Have you ever had the feeling that no matter how hard you try, or what you do, nothing really matters? If you decided to lie in bed all day, society wouldn't crumble. The earth would remain rotating at the same pace. Children wouldn't needlessly die in far away countries, and the stock market probably wouldn't crash because you called in sick.. Being "needed" is something we all inherently "need". I hate being just another faceless number in a large company, that doesn't really give a damn if I'm there or not; doing the same mundane things, day after day. These things don't seem to help the human condition in general. Yes, you are lucky to even have a job in this day and age, and we all can't "save the world", but it's nice to know that we can make a real difference if given the chance. We can make a fortune working hard, making widgets everyday, or we can become rich on another level by making a real difference in people's lives. Is this another one of my typical manic, delusional rants, or is it something more? I tend to believe there is more to life than clocking in and out like a robot in an occupation that is, at the end of the day, essentially meaningless. There is more out there... I know there is...
