With hands bound, I shuffled through the narrow hallways to my fate. Sinister smiles from the corridors glared at me as I passed, like hungry wolves watching their prey. The crowd was filled with vague, dark shapes of varying degrees of wickedness and righteousness. An angry mob. Out to get me. Judging me for my crimes. I longed for indifference; even forgiveness from the dark masses. I would not be forgiven today for my guilt was profound, and the gallows loomed within my sight, like inevitable blackness. With each step I moved closer to my end. There were no looks of empathy or dismay from my peers. Each face in the endless crowd had expressions of fulfillment and well-deserved justice. Nothing could stop this now...
