It followed me... Through the crackling brush, in the desperate autumn evening. Through the maze of hateful weeds. I crept, ever so quietly along the shores of the muddy pond. Looking over my shoulder, I saw it's dark silhouette. There is nowhere I can hide to evade it's menacing pursuit. "Why don't you leave me alone!?" I yelled. My concerned voice echoed over the placid water along the moonlit trail. Stumbling, blind with fear, I summon enough strength to continue my escape. I finally make it to the main road, where I fall to the warm pavement; exhausted. There are no safe street lights on this country road. There are no passing cars, or semblance of any familiar haven to hide. For a moment, I thought perhaps I was alone. The rustling leaves approaching me forced a sudden, panicked tear... Reality was coming for me yet again, and it was almost right in front of me...
